The Orders of Merit of the EGS are awarded to Shooting Brothers and Sisters who

  • have worked for the interests of European integration in their activities in brotherhoods, guilds and shooting clubs.
  • have worked in a special way at a supraregional level for European integration or for the interests of the EGS.
  • have acted in accordance with the aims of the EGS through outstanding individual achievements in a specific EGS activity.
  • have achieved outstanding achievements in their work for the EGS.

Cross of Merit in Bronze

The Bronze Cross of Merit


can be awarded to Shooting Brothers and Sisters who have promoted European integration in their activities within brotherhoods, guilds and Schutterrijen (shooting clubs).

Wearing: pin, left side of the chest

The presidents, chairmen or brotherhood leaders of the respective societies, the associations in the regions and the region are eligible to apply.

The application must be made using the form Application for an EGS award, which must be completed in full. The application must be sent to the regional secretary via the relevant association.

The decision on the award is made by the regional executive committee or the EGS presidium.

The award is presented in an appropriate setting by a member of the regional executive committee or a member of the EGS presidium.

Silver Cross of Merit

The Silver Cross of Merit


can be awarded to Shooting Brothers and Sisters who have shown special commitment to the interests of European integration or have made outstanding contributions to the work of the EGS.

Wearing: pin, left breast

The presidents, chairmen or brotherhood leaders of the respective societies, the associations in the regions and the region are eligible to apply.

The form Application for an EGS award must be used and completed in full for the application. The application must be sent to the regional secretary via the relevant association.

The prerequisite for the award is possession of the bronze award. The bronze award must have been awarded at least three years previously.

  • In justified and exceptional cases, the region and the EGS Presidium may deviate from this rule.

The decision on the award is made by the regional board or the EGS Presidium. The award is presented in an appropriate setting by a member of the regional board or a member of the EGS Presidium.

Cross of Merit in Gold

The Gold Cross of Merit


may be awarded to Shooting Brothers and Sisters who have made a special contribution to European integration or to the interests of the EGS at a supraregional level, or who have performed outstandingly in a specific EGS activity in line with its aims.

Wearing: Pin, left side of the chest

The presidents, chairmen or brotherhood leaders of the respective societies, the associations in the regions and the region are eligible to apply. The application must be sent via the regional secretary to the EGS Presidium for the attention of the General Secretary.

The regional secretaries merely make a recommendation. The decision rests with the EGS Presidium.

The application must be made using the form Application for an EGS award, which must be completed in full.

The prerequisite for the award is possession of the silver award, which must have been awarded at least three years previously.

  • In justified exceptional cases, the EGS Presidium may deviate from this rule.

The decision on the award of the award is made by the EGS Presidium.

The award is presented by a member of the EGS Executive Presidium.

The EGS Presidium or the members of the Presidium are entitled to submit proposals at any time.

Only the Presidium may award persons outside the EGS for special services to the EGS in an appropriate form. However, the award may only be presented by a member of the Executive Presidium.
