The topic of the EGS website was also on the agenda at the spring conference in Arnsberg.
In November 2023, Secretary General Peter-Olaf Hoffmann put together a working group (AK) dedicated to this topic. Stefanie Perle, who has already successfully implemented the relaunch of the BHDS website as part of the media working group, was also recruited for the EGS project.
In a compact presentation, Stefanie addressed the question “Why and for what purpose is a website important? With the questions: How do you want to be perceived? What impression do you want to leave? the added value and function of a website was brought to the point. Stefanie concluded her presentation with the words “The redesign of the website is about self-presentation and perception. The focus of my work will be to make you (EGS) look good.”
The “website” project is now already in the most labor-intensive phase 4.
- Phase 1) Creating an understanding of the why? and what for?
- Phase 2) Analyzing the current content, function and use of the old website.
- Phase 3) the what? and how?
Includes formulating the goal and identifying the necessary measures.
Phase 3a) the when?
GoLive of the website should take place in 2025 for the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the EGS in Balve. - Phase 4) Redesign of the content and implementation of the measures.
- Phase 5) Expansion and maintenance of the website
Results from phase 3)
Currently, information on the EGS and its events, awards, etc. is retrieved and made available via other channels (fb. EGS Region 1, Schützenwesen in Europa, …).
In future, this content will be available directly via the EGS website.
The aim is to create an attractive web presence with added value, which is to be established as the first and central source of information on and about the EGS.
To this end, standards will initially be implemented and the framework conditions for a professional appearance created.
In concrete terms, this means: introducing a uniform e-mail concept, implementing measures that affect the appearance and influence perception, including
Revision of the emblem and implementation of the new color concept. For external events, a mobile sales stand for store items and a new large photo wall will be purchased, which have already been designed in the colors of the EGS (website).
The texts on the EGS and Knighthood are all revised. The regions will also be included so that the information and details on the EGS website are as up-to-date as possible. In addition, a regular survey of current figures and data will be carried out. The results of the evaluation of access, use/visits to the new website will also be presented regularly and serve as reliable figures for the achievement of objectives. The merging of the analog and digital worlds is an important step in the right direction.
Merging the analog and digital worlds is an important step towards the future.
Establishment and expansion of a permanent editorial team, which, in addition to maintenance, is also responsible for ensuring that the website complies with data protection regulations and is user-friendly.
The new EGS website will go live in 2025 in the anniversary year for the celebrations in Balve.
With the go-live, phase 5) will automatically come into force, which will be dedicated to the further expansion and maintenance of the website. The plan is to successively make the content available in 7 languages, which can be expanded to include additional languages if required.
