De Federatie van Vlaamse Historische Schuttersgilden (FVHS)

‘Unity in tradition and marksmanship’

The Association of Flemish Historical Shooting Guilds is an umbrella organisation for shooting guilds in Flanders.

More than 80 guilds are committed to preserving and promoting traditional archery guilds and the culture and tradition of shooting in Flanders.

Our guilds have a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Our guilds are not just societies, but a way of life. We honour our past and preserve the traditions that our ancestors have passed down to us.

La Convention Française des Guildes Historiques de Tir
Under the auspices of the crossbow shooters of Saint-Amand les Eaux, the Convention Française des Guildes Historiques de Tir (French Convention of Historical Shooting Guilds) was founded about ten years ago.
The founding of the French convention enabled them to be accepted into the EGS.
Traditional crossbow shooting should be considered a ‘sport and leisure’ activity. Therefore, our society, with 22 shooters (in 2002), joined an association (UFOLEP) and obtained the ‘Jeunesse et Sports’ accreditation from the department, hoping to be a model for the small world of traditional crossbow shooting.
