The Patron, as Grand Master, has a representative position and participates as an advisory member with a seat and vote in the meetings of the Presidium and the Plenary Assembly.
Karl von Habsburg-Lothringen is the eldest son of Otto Habsburg-Lothringen and the grandson of the last Emperor of Austria-Hungary.
In 2008, Karl von Habsburg-Lothringen succeeded his father and was invested as the new Grand Master on 31 August 2008 in the Imperial Cathedral in Aachen.
Otto von Habsburg passed away on 4 July 2011.
